For Indian passport holders, Cyprus visa process involves the following,

  1. Document Preparation: Preparation of documents (refer the below checklist for more details) usually takes around 5 to 6 days.

  2. Submission: The documents shall be submitted to the Embassy in person or through a third party. If third party is handling the submissions, there must be an authorisation letter as well. There are no finger print scanning involved.

  3. Processing: Embassy officials will start the approval process with the review of your documents. It usually takes around 10 working days for the whole approval process.

  4. Despatch: The stamped passports will be couriered to you directly, or to the address that you’ve requested it to. Usually, the duration of the entire process is about 15 to 20 days, including the despatches. However, during the peak travel months, this could go up to 30 working days.

Summary: To summarise, the visa processing for Cyprus is a quite straightforward one, as long as one knows the steps involved and plan in advance. It’s best to initiate the process at least 45 days prior to the travel date, to be able to accommodate any unforeseen delays.

On a separate note,

  1. For those applicants with a valid multiple entry Schengen visa and have entered any of the Schengen countries at least once, can enter Cyprus visa free
  2. Cyprus visas will be valid for 180 days and tourists are allowed to stay for up to 90 days, from the date of arrival

  4. Covering letter - to be addressed to The Visa Officer, Embassy of Cyprus High Commission, New Delhi, based on the jurisdiction, mentioning the duration of visit, purpose, expenses, details of all applicants with their names, employment details and passport numbers

  5. Day wise itinerary of the trip

  6. Flight tickets, for onward & return

  7. Hotel confirmation vouchers, for all the nights, with the hotel name, address, telephone number and email ID, along with the payment receipts

  8. Original and updated bank statement for the last 3 months, with the bank’s seal and signature of the authorised person at bank, having decent balance towards expenses for each traveller.

  9. Income Tax Returns (ITR) files for last 3 years

  10. Travel insurance is advisable (not mandatory), for each applicant

  11. Address proof, if the applicant has passport that's issued in a city other than New Delhi, Mumbai or Kolkata - any one of the following documents will suffice.

    1. Address proof on company's letter head, signed & sealed by authorised signatory

    2. Valid lease/rental agreement

    3. Phone bill (MTNL/BSNL etc) for the last month

    4. Original housing society letter with seal & stamp

  12. Occupation proof, as per below

    1. For Employed applicants,

      1. Employment certificate/offer letter

      2. NOC/leave letter sanctioned by authorised official

      3. Payslips of last 3 months

    2. For Proprietor/owner applicants,

      1. Cover letter on company’s letter head

      2. Company’s original bank statement, with bank’s seal & signature

      3. Income Tax Returns (ITR) of the company for last 3 years

      4. Company memo/partnership deal/establishment license (notarised)

    3. For Students applicants,

      1. Leave letter or report card issued from School

      2. School ID

      3. For minors (aged less than 18 years) traveling along - notarised NOC, also signed by both parents, on 100/- stamp paper. Cover letter must be signed by both parents, along with passport copies of the parents.

    4. For Sponsored applicants,

      1. Proof of sponsorship and/or private accommodation

    5. For Retired applicants,

      1. Proof of retirement

      2. Pension statements of last 3 months

      3. Proof of regular income generated by ownership of property or business

    1. Covering letter from the company in India

    2. Invitation letter from the company in Cyprus, mentioning the details as below,

      1. Information of the applicant (name, gender, passport number, DOB)

      2. Purpose of visit, financial documents, travel dates, duration

      3. Information about inviting company (name, contact, gender, business details)

  14. For applicants with invites from relatives/friends in Cyprus,

    1. Invite letter stating - purpose of the trip, travel date, duration, assurance on expenses

    2. Passport copy or residence permit of the invitee

    3. Address proof of the invitee (utility bills)

    4. Latest bank statement of the invitee, as a proof of invitee's financial state
