There is no need to apply for a separate visa for Italy apart from Schengen visa.

What is Schengen Visa?

Schengen visa is the visa issued to travel to 26 countries that are part of European Union. 

As a tourist you will be issued a Type C visa which has a validity of 90 days. This visa can be used for single entry or multiple entry.

Types of Visa to Italy

There are three major types of visas that are issued :-

    1. Type C visa :- Also known as Schengen short term visa is issued to tourists for a maximum validity of 90 days. That has both single or multiple entries allowed.
    2. Type D visa :- Long term visa or the Italian nation visa. Issued to people who are planning to stay for more than 90 days.
    3. Limited Territorial Validity Visa:- Issued on Humanitarian grounds by citizen’s country diplomatic or consular representative.

Here is a complete list of things required to apply for your italian visa from India. Keep in mind that you don’t have to apply for a separate visa for Italy if you already have a Schengen visa for some other Schengen state. All you would need is reason for stay in Italy and enough balance to fund your stay in the country.

  • Visa Application Form 

The visa application form can be downloaded from the website to apply for Italy tourist visa from India. Make sure the form is correctly filled and duly signed. The visa application can also be filled electronically and then take a print out.

  • Passport Photograph

One recent passport photograph with whole face capture and a light background. Make sure the photograph comply with the rules listed down.

  • Passport 
    • Should have been issued within the last 10 years and validity shouldn’t exceed  more than 10 years.
    •  Atleast have a validity of 3 months after intended stay.
    •  Should contain at least two blank pages. 
  • Medical Insurance

Medical insurance with a coverage of 30,000 Euros is a must-have for emergency hospital and repatriation expenses. Here is a complete list of companies that are approved by Schengen union for insurance.  

  • Travel Itinerary

A blank page mentioning all the places you’ll be covering along with the dates. Including return flight tickets.

  • Photocopy of Passport

Two sets of photocopy of the Applicant’s passport is required.

  • Employment status Proof
    • Working →  Salary slips of last 3 months, Leave authorization from employer, Form 16, employment contract etc, current bank statement, of latest 6 months.
    • Self-Employed → Business License, Income Tax return proof, 6-month company bank statements.
    • Student → No objection certificate from school or university, Proof of Enrollment. 
    • Retired → Pension statement of last 6 months.
    • Minor → Birth certificate, Italian visa form signed by both parents, certified copies of ID and passport of both parents.

  • Proof of Adequate Finance

To acquire Italy tourist visa from India it’s required to present Form 16, Salary slip of last three months, bank statement copies of last 6 months stamped by Branch Manager or printed on an original letter from Bank, Income Tax Challan, credit card copies.

  • Proof of Accomodation
    • You need to have hotel confirmation of all the places during your overall stay in the European Union. 
    • In case your trip is sponsored, an Invitation letter from sponsor along with the sponsor’s picture ID containing signature and validity of documents.
    • If you are visiting friends or relatives, Invitation from host is required with a photocopy of his/her passport.
    • In case of Booked tour, evidence of pre-paid tour with proof of payment to the tour operator.

  • Cover Letter

A cover letter is required to cover the following details :-

    • Purpose of travel to Italy.
    • Proof of how you plan to fund your trip.
    • In case of sponsor, explain your relationship with the sponsor and why they are funding your trip.
    • Overview of your itinerary and the reason why you chose Italian Embassy to apply for your Schengen visa.
    • Your intent to return to home country. Show that you have strong reasons to come back owing to family, business and work.
    • In case you are not able to submit any of the required documents explain the reason and what other documents have you submitted alternatively.

Italy Visa fees from India

Italy visa fees from India to apply for a Schengen visa is 4810/- INR payable via Demand Draft favouring “VFS GLOBAL SERVICES PRIVATE LIMITED” at the city where visa was applied.

For minor from 6-12 years, the visa cost is 2810/- INR. 

In addition to the Italy visa fee, an additional charge of INR 496 is levied as VFS service charge.

A convenience fee of INR 166 is charged if payment is made by cash, credit or debit card.

Visa Fee Waiver

Visa fee is waived off for :

  • Kids below 6 years of age.
  • Researchers going out for scientific research work.
  • Students, graduates and undergraduates taking the journey for educational training and study purpose.
  • Representatives under the age of 25 of non-profit organizations who are participating in seminars, sports or cultural events held by some other non-profit organization.

When to Apply for Italian Visa

The Earliest you can apply for your Schengen visa application for Italy from India is 90 days before your travel date.

Italy visa requirements from India, step by step procedure

  • Check if you need a visa

If you wish to travel to Italy, Italy visa is required for Indian citizens. In case you already have a Schengen visa applied you do not need to apply for an Italian visa separately.

  • Choose your visa type 

Based on your duration of stay, select which visa would you require.

  • Application Form 

Download the application form online and fill it up with relevant details. Ensure that all information is correct to the best of your knowledge. Do not leave any column blank. If there are columns that do not apply to you, fill them up with NA( No Answer). Print two copies of the form and sign both copies.

  • Documents

Ensure that you have all the documents required for applying for Italy visa from India.

  • Schedule your Appointment

The visa process may take a long time hence it’s advised to schedule it 2 months before your travel start date. You can schedule your appointment here

  • Visit the Visa Application Centre

Make sure you arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled time. In case you are late for you appointment, you will be asked to re-book a future appointment.

Collect your visa from designated VFS offices at specified time slots. You can also avail Passport at your doorstep service at an extra charge of INR 300/-.

Drop Box Service for Italian Visa Application

The drop box service has been started from 21st January 2019 for Applicants who have already submitted their biometric after 02 November 2015. The drop box service at Blue dart is only for Applicants who are not required to submit biometrics including children below 12 years of age.

Steps to be followed to avail drop box service:

  • Applicant must have the visa application form filled and duly signed. All supporting documents, photograph based on specifications and passport duly attached along with the Demand draft for Visa fees and other charges.
  • Each Application to be posted in a separate envelope.
  • Submit Courier consent form for doorstep passport delivery at your desired address.
  • Fill up the Declaration form stating that you understand the entire drop box submission procedure.
  • Put all the required documents in a sealed envelope and hand it over to Blue Dart courier executive.
  • As a token of receipt, you’ll be handed over an Air Waybill. This bill needs to be shown by the applicant at the time of receiving the processed passport.

How to Apply by drop box service?

What to do if the Visa Application gets revoked?

In case your visa is rejected, you have a right to appeal. The Appeals are conducted against the final decisive Member State in accordance with the national law of the specified EU Member State.

The procedure to appeal. National laws, concerned authorities that can be contacted and the time limit for delivering appeal is mentioned in case the visa is refused by the member state.

How much time does it take to process the visa?

Ideally, applications are processed within 15 days from the date of submission. In some cases if the candidate is asked to produce additional documents, the process might be extended to 30 days. 

In special cases, it even goes upto 60 days maximum.

1. What type of UK Bus`iness visa needs to be applied from India?

3. How long can you stay in the UK with UK Business Visa?

As per the UK business visa requirements, you can by default, stay for 6 months. However, if you want to stay for more than 6 months, then you need to apply for long term Standard Visitor Visa. The Standard Visitor Visa can be applied for either 2 years or 5 years or 10 years. You can visit the UK multiple times, but the UK business visa requirements mandate a cap of 6 months stays for each visit.

4. What are the fees for UK Business Visa?

If you are applying a Standard Visitor visa for 6 months, then the fees are £95. The fees for Long Term Standard Visitor Visa vary on the number of years. It is £361 for two years, £655 for five years and £822 for ten years.

6. Which are the mandatory documents required for UK Business Visa?

As per the UK Business visa requirements, you need to submit the following documents:

  1. Your valid, current passport, original as well as photocopies of first and last pages
  2. Details of previous travels to the UK
  3. Two passport size photographs with a size of 50 mm by 50 mm.
  4. Bank statement for the last 6 months
  5. If you are travelling for your company, the salary slip for the last 3 months must be provided. Alternatively, the proof of earnings in the form of a letter from the company is also accepted. The letter must contain your salary, start date in the company, your role and the contact information of your company.

  7. For travel related to academic purposes, you need to provide a letter from your sponsor which should contain details of your enrolment and leave.
  8. If you are travelling to the UK as a self-employed person then you need to submit registration details of your business
  9. Indians travelling for attending business meetings and discussions must submit a letter from their employer stating the purpose of the visit and the payment details
  10. Indians travelling for entertainment purposes, also need to submit a letter from the inviting organization mentioning the details of the performance. It should also mention whether the person is an amateur or a professional artist.
  11. If you are below the age of 18 then you need to submit your birth certificate. In case you are travelling alone or with a person other than your parents or guardian then you need to submit additional documents. The passport of any official documents of your parents or guardian needs to be submitted along with a letter duly signed by them. The letter must contain the details of the person travelling with you and the accommodation details in the UK.

7. What are the specifications of the Photograph required for UK Business Visa?

UK business visa requirements mandate the specifications of the photograph to be followed strictly. The visa application centers have vending machines at their premises. The machines are coin-operated, from which you can obtain the accurate photograph specifications required for a UK business visa.

The specifications are mentioned below:

  1. The size of the photograph should be 50 mm X 50 mm
  2. The photograph should be coloured
  3. The background should not have any patterns, only light coloured plain background is acceptable
  4. The photograph should cover the entire face with the eyes facing straight at the camera
  5. No headgear or covering is allowed unless used for religious beliefs
  6. The facial expression must be normal

Please note: Failure to meet any of the above specifications of the photograph may lead to rejection during submission at the UK visa centers. It is advisable to follow the rules to prevent delays in UK business visa processing.

UK Business Visa from India needs to be applied online

The sections that need to be filled up are:

  1. Personal details like name, date of birth, place of birth, marital status, religion, citizenship, nationality, etc.
  2. Passport details
  3. Your contact details like address, phone number, and email address
  4. Details of your family
  5. Previous visits to the UK and other countries
  6. Professional details which include your occupation and details of your employment

After filling up the form, it must be signed electronically submitted. An appointment needs to be scheduled at the designated visa application centers. You need to undergo the biometric test and submit the requisite documents at the centers.

9. UK Startup Visa

The UK startup visa can be applied by Indians of you are willing to start a business in the UK. You must be able to present a new and innovative business idea. The idea must be endorsed by any higher educational institution in the UK or a UK business organization supporting entrepreneurs. You can stay for a maximum of two years with the UK start-up visa which cannot be extended beyond. It can, however, be transformed into the UK Entrepreneur Tier 1 Visa.

10. UK Entrepreneur Tier 1 Visa

UK Entrepreneur Tier 1 visa permits settlement in the UK. You can also extend your visa and bring in your family members. However, you can no longer apply for a new UK Entrepreneur Tier 1 visa. Only those already possessing the Tier 1 visa are eligible for an extension.

11. When can you apply for an extension of a UK Business Visa?

If your UK Business visa expiry is for a period of fewer than 6 months, then you can apply for an extension. But the extension can only be applied till the date which covers your total stay duration in the UK as 6 months. However, if you are receiving medical treatment in the UK, then you can extend your UK business visa beyond 6 months. The extension is subject to evidence submitted on your continuing treatment endorsed by a doctor or NHS consultant. You must apply for an extension before your visa expires.

Types of South Africa Visa for Indians

  • South African tourist visa – If an Indian intends to travel to South Africa for tourism purposes, he or she must obtain the South African tourist visa. This visa takes about 12 working days to process. 
  • South African business visa – If an Indian intends to travel to South Africa for business purposes, he or she must obtain the South African business visa. This visa takes about 12 days to process. 
  • South African work visa – If an Indian intends to travel to South Africa for work purposes, he or she must obtain the South African work visa. This visa is also known as an employment visa.

1. South African tourist visa

  • A valid Indian passport that does not expire for a minimum period of 3 months after the expiry date of the visa. If you have an old passport that was issued not more than 10 years ago, it needs to be submitted as well. A photocopy of the first and last pages of your current passport needs to be provided to the Embassy or Consulate. Note that at least two pages of your current passport must be blank. 
  • The filled-out South African visa application form must be submitted along with your passport. Ensure that the visa application forms are filled with a black pen and only with capital letters.
  • You must submit two photographs with a matt finish and dimensions 35×44 mm. They should have a white background. Ensure that these photos have not been submitted to any visa application before and must not be more than 6 months old. 
  • Proof of accommodation that states where you will be staying in South Africa. The document must contain the following details – 
    • Name of the applicant 
    • Passport number of the applicant 
    • Period of stay in South Africa
    • Contact details of the place of stay

  • The bank statement of the applicant from the previous 6 months that is signed by the concerned bank
  • Applicant’s income tax returns from the past 3 years
  • A marriage certificate needs to be provided – if the applicant’s passport was issued before marriage
  • A cover letter addressed to the Visa officer, Consulate General of South Africa, Mumbai 
  • If the applicant is a student, then a student ID or a bonafide certificate is required

  • If the visa application form is being submitted in the Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Goa, Pune, and Bangalore visa application centres, the invitation letter needs to be on the letterhead and ensure that it is authenticated with a company seal. For the same visa application centres, the visa applications must be authenticated or attested by the Commissioner of Oaths or the South African police.
  • The applicant is required to provide the payslips from the previous 3 months and the employment contract. 
  • If you are self-employed, you will have to provide the registration letter of the company along with two letterheads.

3. South African work visa

  • The passport of the applicant must not expire for at least 30 days after he or she has left South Africa on the expiration of the visa. The applicant will have to provide photocopies of the first and last page of the passport. 
  • If the applicant has traveled to South Africa earlier, he or she will have to also provide the visa approved prior to that visit as well. 
  • A filled out Visa Form-8 must be submitted along with the passport of the applicant. Ensure that the form is filled with a black ink pen and capital letters.
  • The applicant will also have to fill out a ‘power of attorney’ form and paste a revenue stamp on it.
  • The applicant will have to submit two photographs with matt finish and dimensions 35x44mm. They must not be older than a month. The background should be white in color and the photographs should show 70-80% of the face size.
